Cogitamus Announces Acquisition of TransportInfo.Org.UK

Cogitamus Limited is pleased to announce the acquisition of TransportInfo.Org.UK.

TransportInfo is an invaluable source of information for transport operators and campaigners, bringing together in one place news stories related to roads, railways, aviation and shipping.

Managing Director of Cogitamus Limited, Mark Walker, said today:

“We are delighted to have been entrusted with the stewardship of this valuable online resource for the transport community. By bringing TransportInfo into the family of Cogitamus services, we plan to build on the fantastic work done by Anthony Rae in creating a virtual community of those working or interested in the transport industry and the policies that affect it.”

TransportInfo founder, Anthony Rae, said today:

“I’m very pleased to have found a good home for the service which I started 6 years ago to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for anyone who would be assisted by having access to a compilation of the day’s UK transport news. I have handed over the site to Cogitamus free of charge because the benefit to me will be the continued availability of the service to its users, plus the fact that I can now have a day off from my ‘harmless drudgery’!”

Cogitamus Limited has confirmed that the TransportInfo website will continue to be provided free to all users following its transfer on 1 July 2008.

I hope there won’t be too many adverts. While I appreciate we can’t have something for nothing, the ‘clean’presentation of the pages is very valuable to me.

  2. Ian Parker Says:

I am delighted to see that Transportinfo will survive. It’s not just operators and campaigners but those of us who teach Transport Economics that recognise what an invaluable resource this is. So thanks to Anthony and a big thumbs up to Cogitamus!

  3. Tony Ross Says:

Very pleased to read that the service (my home page) will continue, free of charge.

I have to say that when Anthony Rae first announced that he would be ending his 6-year commitment to the TransportInfo website my thoughts were “Oh no. TransportInfo is going to fizzle”. As an expat Brit living in New Zealand I have found TransportInfo invaluable for keeping up with current transport news from the UK. Its loss would have been a blow.
So well done both Anthony and Cogitamus for ensuring between you that this excellent work will continue, and your preparedness to keep it free-to-all-users is highly appreciated.

  5. Sarah Clayton Says:

Delighted and hugely relieved to learn that TransportInfo is safe. I really depend on it to find aviation stories each day. The (very few) days when Anthony has been away, or not got up as early as usual are a struggle, and a reminder of just how invaluable and brilliant Anthony’s site has been. Anthony – thank you so much for all the work over the years. If only all harmless drudgery was as productive!

  6. Lauren Roffey Says:

That is such great news – for many years I have relied on TransportInfo for my daily accessible round-up of transport news and was very worried that it would fade away. It has proven to be an invaluable research tool. Thank you Anthony for your hard work.

  7. Bill Harrop Says:

Transport info is a fantastic resource, thanks for all the info you have provided Anthony. (and the time and effort of course:))

  8. Artiford Marsh Says:

This acquisition is slightly different to Cogitamus’ normal business, which seems to be PR.

    Why the interest?

What if a story that should go on Transport Info is critical of a Cogitamus client? will it still go on?

what sort of traffic have you been having over last few months?
