What we do
Cogitamus was created in January 2007 with the ambition to bring together some of the country’s most accomplished public affairs and communications professionals.
We specialise in the transport, logistics, environmental and infrastructure fields. We assist our clients in promoting legislation, winning contracts, and securing – or in some cases resisting – construction powers through the effective communication of their proposals and reputations to stakeholders, decision-takers and consumers.Fundamental to our business philosophy is the belief that audiences for communications activity cannot be separated as they were in the past. Whilst public affairs involves reaching out to political decision takers and influencers, these individuals are also consumers, newspaper readers, web surfers, radio listeners and television viewers as well.
So, Cogitamus fuses together public and corporate affairs, helping our clients to create strong messages consistent with their underlying business values, and then to communicate these to a range of audiences with the ultimate aim of achieving results in the political arena.
Our consultants have wide experience of working with some of the household names in the sectors for which we specialise, and a proven track record of delivering successful outcomes.
“Think, Plan, Do” is more than just a strapline to us – it describes our core approach and philosophy. We apply a high level of intellectual input into devising the strategies for achieving our clients’ objectives, identifying the political decision takers and those groups or individuals able to influence them. We then create operational plans to reach out to the decision takers and influencers, whether through direct meetings or wider communications and reputation management activities. We go on to execute those plans, in partnership with our clients, acting as advocates in our own right or improving the effectiveness of our clients’ own advocacy. We constantly monitor progress in achieving our clients’ objectives, and adapt our plans in the light of events or new information.Good intelligence is essential to any public affairs or communications campaign.
So, Cogitamus provides a political monitoring service covering Parliament, government institutions, local government and the media. The service is tailored to the needs of our individual clients to ensure that it is focused, timely and relevant.Business values and ethics are important to us. We are governed by the demanding ethical standards laid down by the Association of Professional Political Consultants, to which we were admitted almost immediately upon the creation of our company.
